Vision Statement: The vision of Delta State University is to become a centre of excellence, recognized as one of the leading Universities
in Nigeria, in Africa and the world at large through teaching, research, scholarship, innovation, community service, and the dissemination
of knowledge.
The University: A Brief History; The Delta State University Law, 1992 established the University with its main campus at Abraka and
a campus at Anwai, Asaba. With the 1995 Amended Edict, we now have a campus at Oleh. The University thus constituted, inherited the
Abraka campus of the defunct Bendel State University, Ekpoma, the College of Agriculture, Anwai and the defunct St. Michael’s Teachers’
College, Oleh. The main campus at Abraka is organized for academic and related activities on two nearby sites I and 2, less than one
kilometer apart. There is now Site 3 on the Abraka – Agbor Road which was donated to the University by the people of Abraka. Site
3 which is undergoing rapid development is only physically separated from Site I by the Abraka-Agbor highway. Abraka Campus Site 1
- This site accommodates the Institute of Education, Departments of H.P.E., Tech. & Business Education and Counselling Psychology,
the University transit lodge, Senior Staff Club, some staff quarters, a sports ground, Canon Mason Hall (one of the male hostels),
the Delsu Staff Schools (Primary and Secondary) and some non-teaching departments/units. Site 2 - This site houses faculties of Arts,
Education, Science, the Administrative Block, Students Affairs, Senate Block, Bursary, the main Library and the Health Centre. Others
are Abraka hall (a male hostel), Ethiope and Council Halls (two female hostels) and some staff quarters. Banking services are provided
by four Commercial Banks, namely: Oceanic Bank PLC, Afribank PLC, Unity Bank PLC and ECO Bank PLC. Site 3 - The faculties of Social
Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Dentistry and Clinical Medicine are domiciled here. Others in this site include Institute of Science
Laboratory Technology (ISLT), the Pre-Degree, Sandwich and Weekend Degree Programmes, the University Hall and some staff quarters.
Anwai - Asaba Campus The College of Agriculture, Anwai-Asaba was a lower level institution for the training of non-degree agricultural
professionals. Presently, the campus plays host to two faculties of the University - Agriculture and Management Sciences. Oleh Campus
The site formally occupied by the St. Micheal’s Teachers’ College, Oleh, was later occupied by a Secondary School known as St. Micheal
College. Currently, it houses the faculties of Law and Engineering. As at 2006/2007 academic session, the university consisted of
